Techniques

IMG_7316_edited.png

I mainly do pastel and oil painting on request. Other techniques are also possible, e.g. watercolour or acrylic work. If you want to use a different technique than what I am more used to, this is not a problem, because the technique does not disappear from your mind in an instant. Together we can create exactly the kind of artwork you want. I use professional quality tools in my work. Below is information about different techniques, the most popular of which has been pastel work.

Pastels - soft and vibrant effect

In my work I use pastel pencils and also pastel sticks, which produce bright pigment colours. These give the work a special softness and depth.

Pastels allow for a wide range of techniques, such as subtle shading, strong colours surfaces, and soft gradients.

With this technique I am able to create a vibrant and rich colour scheme, where the tones blend together beautifully. The softness of the pastel makes the surface of the images vivid and atmospheric.

I can also bring out small details or large splashes of colour as needed. If you are looking for art where colours and shapes blend together vividly and warmly, then the pastel technique may be just the right choice.

Oil paints - depth and durability in art

Oil paints are one of the most traditional and versatile painting techniques that will not fade over time. I mainly paint on canvas with oil paints and also paint the edges of the painting, so the work can be hung directly on the wall without frames.

The most important feature of oil paint is its long drying time, which allows you to work with colors, create soft transitions, shading, details and depth.

It also allows the use of the alla prima technique, where one paints directly in a large, single layer without drying, giving the work a fresher and more spontaneous look. This style of painting makes the painting process much faster than traditional oil painting.

If you appreciate art that breathes time and makes colors shine in a deep and enriched way, oil paints on canvas and the alla prima technique may be the perfect choice.

Acrylics - fast and versatile painting

Acrylic paints are popular for their quick drying time and versatility. They are great for creating thick layers of colour, unlike, for example, oil paints, which take longer to dry.

Acrylic paints can achieve bright and vibrant colours that stay fresh for a long time. They are also durable and well-preserved, making them a great choice for long-lasting artwork.

Watercolours - sophisticated, unique effects

Watercolours are known for their light, translucent, and fresh appearance. When painting with watercolours, the colours blend beautifully into each other, creating an airy and lively atmosphere.

This technique can be used to create subtle, light tones as well as deeper, more intense tones. Watercolor is especially suitable if you want light and airiness in your images.
